In 1983 ACWS began with a box of files and nine founding shelters who recognized that with their combined strengths, passion and dedication, they were stronger. 40 years later, the ACWS is 40 members strong and is Alberta’s leading body of action against gender-based violence.
Join us in celebration to honour our 40th anniversary and in solidarity as we look to the future with renewed focus on our vision for a world free of gender-based violence and abuse.
As ACWS’s signature fundraising event, Gifts of Hope raises crucial funds to support our programs and services, including training and advocacy for the shelter sector, increased access and support for survivors of gender-based violence, and our violence prevention programming.
