Service Delivery & Operations Start QuizPage 1 of 10 Pick the statement that best describes your team. Our agency’s name gives the impression that services are available are geared to serving a specific binary gender (programs for women and/or programs for men). Our services are available to some or all sexually and gender diverse clientele, however little work has been done to signal to community that we are striving to be 2SLGBTQ+ inclusive. OR We are actively promoting the inclusivity of our services, but lack staff training policies, and/or procedures to ensure inclusive service delivery for 2SLGBTQ+ clients. My team is actively promoting awareness of our 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion stance within our physical space, outward facing communications, and with the 2SLGBTQ+ community. This promotion accurately reflects the policies, practice, culture, and competencies clients can expect when accessing our services. All service determination criteria in regards to gender are clear and available on our website and social media Page 2 of 10 Pick the statement that best describes your team. My team’s programming and service eligibility is based on a binary (male/female) understanding of gender My team’s programming and services eligibility are based on a binary (male/female) understanding of gender, however, it is understood that there is room or clinical/professional judgment for staff to use when making service determinations with transgender and non-binary clients. Our clients can access or switch programming to be appropriate of and affirming to their gender Page 3 of 10 Our intake forms... require people to select gendered titles as well as a male or female gender for themselves and, where applicable, their partner and/or perpetrator(s). only list male and female genders for the clients and, where applicable, their partner and/or perpetrator(s), however, we do provide blank spaces or the like for clients to self-identify or to identify a field’s choices as not applicable. are designed to maximize choice for responding to fields related to titles, sex, gender identity, pronouns, medical histories, and partner and/or relationship statuses. There are members of my team that seem to have no desire to learn about pronouns or name considerations for queer, trans, and nonbinary clients. I worry about or have witnessed my team members refusing to honour or use affirming names and pronouns. My team will sometimes make assumptions about the gender, pronouns, or sexuality of clients or other staff based on their voice, mannerisms, and/or appearance. There is a willingness and knowledge around pronouns and name considerations for queer, trans, and nonbinary clients, but these affirming names and pronouns are used inconsistently. When missteps or discrimination happens, there are certain staff members who tend to step in to voice concern or educate their teammates. My team has integrated conversations around pronouns and affirming names into our everyday interactions with clients and with each other. We default to gender neutral language for groups and individuals when pronouns have not been given and are sure to clarify with clients if the pronouns and names, they give at intake are the same ones they want used with other clients and staff and/or on forms and records. The team as a whole is prepared to call each other in when instances of disrespect occur and can direct each other to opportunities for training or ongoing supportive training (where available). There is at least one bathroom on our premises that are clearly identified as gender neutral including at least one bathroom that is accessible for people with mobility-related disabilities. Any/all single occupancy bathrooms are non-gendered. Page 6 of 10 Pick the statement that best describes your services. Transgender and non-binary clients are either not accepted for overnight shelter stays or are assigned sleeping arrangements based on the assumed comfort level of other clients. When possible, private or non-gendered sleeping arrangements are provided for trans and non-binary clients. If shared sleeping spaces are required, staff attempt to match clients with suitable roommates on gendered floors. In a gendered space, trans and nonbinary persons’ comfort and safety is considered equally to that of cisgender persons. Clients are consulted about the sleeping arrangements that feel most safe to them and supported in their decisions. When possible and requested, private and/or nongendered sleeping arrangements are provided. Page 7 of 10 Pick the statement that best describes your team. Select members of my team feel prepared to address conflict and interpersonalsafety concerns that are rooted in stigma and misconceptions about 2SLGBTQ+ people. Emphasis on mediation and established protocol when navigating these incidents. My team is prepared to work with residents to resolve conflict and to address interpersonal safety concerns.
