Attitudes & Awareness Start QuizPage 1 of 6 Which statement best describes your team's access and interest in professional development? Members of my team seem to believe that we don’t have 2SLGBTQ+ clients or that these clients are statistically infrequent. There seems to be sentiment that allocating time, money, or professional development towards 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion is not worthwhile. My team has had at least one opportunity (perhaps optional) to partake in 2SLGBTQ+ competency trainings. We are examining what additional knowledge and skills our team may be missing. My organization offers ongoing opportunities for outside learning and staff development while making it clear that it is not the role of 2SLGBTQ staff or clients to educate or problem-solve. Ongoing competency training that emphasizes evolving best practices is mandatory for persons at all levels of the organization and any consultation or training from 2SLGBTQ+ persons (including team members) is compensated fairly. Page 2 of 6 Pick the statement that best describes your team. My team members often seem uninformed about and/or averse to learning about 2SLGBTQ+ identities, experiences, and concerns. They seem to approach conversations with or about 2SLGBTQ+ people from a perspective based on misinformation or stereotypes A good portion of my team has some knowledge of gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation in relation to 2SLGBTQ+ communities and those who don’t seem open to learning. We are working to develop an understanding of pronouns and affirming name usage as well as Two- Spirit identities, and gender related topics like transitioning. My team is continuously examining how our service delivery, policies, structures, etc. may impact our 2SLGBTQ+ clients. We have ongoing teamwide discussions and established mechanisms (ongoing training, mentorship, etc.) to address any presenting harms and oversights in serving these clients Page 3 of 6 Pick the statement that best describes your team. Members of my team have expressed opposition towards learning about and/or using gender-neutral pronouns or pronouns that clash with their assumptions about people’s gender. Members of my team seem generally open to serving 2SLGBTQ+ community members, but some are generally unsure or nervous about how to work with or interact with these clients. My team approaches relationships and service provision with an informed understanding of the diverse barriers and service needs of 2SLGBTQ+ clients. These clients are seen for the whole of their person and not equated with their sexuality and/or gender identity. Needs and barriers related to intersecting systems of oppression including racism, ableism, and colonialism, are equally considered when planning and delivering services.
