Gifts of Hope

The Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters invites you to attend Gifts of Hope 2023.  Join us for a gourmet meal, powerful and moving guest speakers, and an inspiring presentation from ACWS staff. We have planned raffles, a silent auction, and other activities to keep you entertained all evening. Bring your spouse, your friend, or coworkers – everyone is welcome. Together we are stronger and with your support, we can make a difference for those experiencing gender-based violence in our communities.

This year, we are pleased to host speakers and co-authors of Gross Misconduct: Hitting From Behind, Tracy Stark and Sandra Young Kolbuc. The book details Tracy’s journey to peace and purpose after she experienced immeasurable heartbreak with the death of her children at the hands of their father. She will share some of her journey with us at the event and Sandra will touch on the systemic issues and barriers that ultimately contributed to the tragedy.

Please note: The Gifts of Hope event will contain conversations around domestic violence and abuse, including murder. We are conscious that these moments may be triggering to some individuals.
