Second-Stage Shelter in Calgary, AB

Discovery House supports women with children (including pregnant women) who are fleeing domestic violence. We provide a trauma-informed continuum of prevention and intervention programs and services to help families heal, rebuild their lives, and be equipped to transition into independent and appropriate housing free from domestic violence. We have a strong focus on addressing childhood trauma, parent/child attachment, positive brain development and building the capacity of moms to improve the outcomes of children in her care by helping moms understand the impact of trauma on the developing brain and the protective factors needed for resiliency.
